Additional Insured Endorsements
| Project owners frequently require their general contractors to provide additional insured (AI) endorsements and general contractors just as frequently require their subcontractors to do the same. These documents have the effect of adding the party requiring the endorsement to the second party's commercial general liability (CGL) insurance policy. |

In and through its White Paper on Additional Insured Endorsements, AGC seeks to provide a balanced overview of the various reasons why many property owners, general contractors and other upstream parties frequently seek AI endorsements from downstream parties — and why many of the latter resist such endorsements. Attached to the paper is a chart showing recent changes in the standard form of the AI endorsement and an article on new legislation that many subcontractors are seeking.
For more information on AI endorsements and how they work, AGC encourages its members to seek the advice and counsel of competent insurance brokers familiar with the construction industry. |
