Advanced Management Program

For over 10 years, AGC’s Advanced Management Program has been the construction industry’s premier executive education program. Practitioners, construction consultants, industry experts, and university faculty lead participants through a concentrated and rewarding six-day program that focuses on the 13 critical areas of upper management.

These areas of awareness include: strategic and financial management, risk management, leadership, contract dispute resolution, leading change, construction ethics, Fit to Lead (a look at how personal health affects leadership ability), an economic outlook with AGC’s Chief Economist, safety management, reputation management, construction productivity, blending work and family.

The Advanced Management Program also offers participants the unique opportunity to learn from and network with industry peers who are struggling and succeeding with the same short and long term challenges. This network continues to be a valuable resource to participants long after the program concludes.

  • Discuss the criteria for creating vision and mission statements using examples from successful construction firms
  • Identify emerging risk and trends in the construction industry
  • Demonstrate motivational techniques to build team members in your company
  • Discuss litigation and arbitration models and evaluate the mediation process and benefits
  • Examine the six steps of change and the role and impact of managing change for continued company and personal growth
  • Identify ethical dilemmas in construction and develop practical skills to best handle questionable situations
  • Recognize the connection between improving fitness and improving leadership ability
  • Discuss the current economic state of the construction industry and identify probably future trends, danger signs, and opportunities
  • Examine the effect safety has on the bottom line and how to build a culture of safety at your company
  • Demonstrate the qualities of an effective news interview and create a company crisis communication plan
  • Create short interval schedules and job schedules to increase field productivity
  • Examine ways to leverage time and energy to build and enhance family relationships
  • Obtain 4.1 CEUs.

Participant Profile

Attendance is open to members of a firm’s senior management team. Examples of titles include: President, Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Area/Branch Manager, and Senior Project Manager.

Completed Application Requirements & Tuition

A complete application includes the application form (found in the Advanced Management Program brochure), a letter of recommendation from a supervisor and full payment. Applications can not be considered until all three requirements are submitted.

The all inclusive tuition for AGC members is $4,995 and for non-members tuition is $6,250. This fee covers hotel accommodations and all meals for each day of the program and instructional materials. AGC of America also handles the booking of participants’ hotel rooms. Checks are the only acceptable form of payment.

Participants are responsible for securing their own flights and ground transportation. Due to the intensive nature of this course, the presence of spouses or guests is not permitted.
