AGC PAC Is Your PAC

The Associated General Contractors of America Political Action Committee (AGC PAC) is an essential part of our legislative influence on Capitol Hill. The goal of AGC PAC, which was established in 1977, has always been to give contractor members a collective voice in the election of federal officeholders. Through this effort, AGC PAC advances the legislative priorities of the construction industry by helping to elect the candidates most likely to support those priorities.

While corporate contributions in federal elections are prohibited by law, voluntary financial support from eligible members to AGC PAC allows us to work toward improving AGC member's businesses and the tax and regulatory environment in which they operate.

December 2007 - The Political Landscape

  • Only 22.3 percent of Americans believe the country is headed in the right direction.
  • Congressional approval is at a historic low, with October polls reporting that 66% of Americans disapprove of the job Congress is doing.
  • There are 17 GOP open seats compared to just 4 Democratic open seats.

Fundraising Goals

After raising more than a million dollars for the first time in its 30-year history, AGC PAC is working to again raise the bar. For the 2007-2008 election cycle AGC PAC has a set a goal of raising $1.2 million to help support construction-friendly candidates for federal office. Of the more than 5,000 PACs representing all industries, less than 60 participate at the $1 million level and AGC PAC continues to lead the pack.

As of December 1, 2007 voluntary personal donations totaling nearly $500,000 have been contributed by member contractors nationwide. 100% of those donations are in turn going to support construction-friendly candidates for federal office.
